Shaun Mynhardt

Shaun Mynhardt is a distinguished South African TV presenter, the Biographer of Legends, and the creator and producer of the acclaimed kykNET series Die Huis Van Legendes.

 

Born in Cape Town, Shaun is a descendant of South African royalty through his family connection to Siegfried Mynhardt. From an early age, he demonstrated an affinity for the arts, participating in school operettas and honing his vocal talents through formal singing lessons. His dedication to music and his passion for the legendary South African singer Cora Marie became defining aspects of his childhood. Shaun’s devotion to Cora Marie was so profound that he made a weekly pilgrimage to her grave, placing roses in tribute. He also became the proud owner of several of Cora Marie's personal stage costumes, scrapbooks, and gold records.

 

In 1999, Shaun launched his own musical career with the release of his debut album Ek Neem U Aan Jesus, showcasing his vocal prowess. He matriculated from Tygerberg College, Panorama, before pursuing an LLB degree, which he completed in 2007.

 

Shaun made his television debut in 2001 on SABC 2's Bambanani, and in 2012, he published his first book, Gee Haar 'n Roos – The Life Story of Cora Marie. His deep connection with the music industry continued as he appeared on kykNET's 10 uit 10 and Legendes van Afrikaanse Musiek in 2014, where he explored the illustrious career of Cora Marie.

 

In 2015, Shaun became the manager of iconic singer Min Shaw, and the following year, he collaborated with her to record Gee Haar 'n Roos, accompanied by a music video featured on kykNET. His role as Min Shaw’s biographer culminated in the publication of Sprokie van 'n Liefling: Min Shaw in 2019, a heartfelt tribute to the legendary performer.

 

In the same year, Shaun founded the South African Legends Museum, a private institution dedicated to preserving the legacies of South Africa's greatest singers, actors, radio and TV personalities. The museum recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, further solidifying his role as a steward of the nation's cultural history.

 

Shaun's creative vision took a remarkable leap forward in 2022 with the creation, writing, and production of Die Huis Van Legendes, a 14-episode television series that pays tribute to South Africa’s greatest legends. Co-presented by Min Shaw, the show premiered on kykNET-NOU in January 2024, capturing the hearts of over 4 million viewers each week. Shaun also recorded the theme song of the series, collaborating with renowned singer Maritza.

 

In addition to his work as a presenter and producer, Shaun has recorded several successful songs, including Speelgoed, a hit for Kupido, and the country track I Need More of You. His contributions to South African music and television continue to resonate with audiences across the country.
